Villa Pia Memories: Connie of Widowed and Young (WAY)
Here at Villa Pia, it’s our pleasure to welcome groups as well as families; and we are delighted that members of the UK charity Widowed and Young (WAY), recently enjoyed a retreat at our villa. We caught up with WAY member Connie, and asked her a few questions about their stay.
How did you first hear about Villa Pia?
A member of the WAY party had been previously to Villa Pia and raved on about it, we decided a trip was in order!
What appealed to you about staying at the villa?
Everything, the location, the facilities, the food and wine.
What were your first impressions of Villa Pia?
Stunning, such a beautiful place.
What were the highlights of your stay?
The feeling that the kids were very happy, I’m not one for traditional screamy kids clubs and neither is my boy, but watching him feeling confident enough to explore with his new group of friends is just priceless.
Would you recommend it to friends?
100% Yes!
Tell us a little about the group Widowed and Young?
WAY Widowed and Young is a charity which offers peer to peer support for widowed people under the age of 51.
Being able to see that you are not the only one experiencing all the heartache and sadness being widowed brings is invaluable.
Knowing that you are not alone and that everything you feel is ‘normal’ helps a lot of people.
They have regional co-ordinators who arrange all manner of things from coffee meet ups to weekends in Italy or Center Parcs.
How did your stay at Villa Pia impact the group?
Very positively. Being a single parent usually means we are all run ragged, being in a setting where you know your children are safe and happy helps massively. Food-wise, to know that Villa Pia caters for kids (even the fussy ones) is a big plus.
How would you describe Villa Pia in three words?
Idyllic, Happy, Amazing!
Thanks also to Connie and the group for sharing such lovely pictures from their holiday. If you would like to find out about booking a group or retreat at Villa Pia, visit our Bookings page.
