The weather’s brightening up, the new season awaits us and we’re excited about the possibilities of international travel opening up soon. It’s been such a tough year across the travel industry. Here at Villa Pia we are looking forward to welcoming more guests for relaxing, socially-distanced holidays in the coming months.

One of the standout features at Villa Pia has always been our food.

Our chefs take the utmost care to prepare gorgeous Italian rustic feasts that cater to all tastes and sensitivities. From tantalising lunch spreads to sumptuous four-course suppers, Villa Pia’s food was a big reason that The Guardian newspaper selected us as a Top Family Summer Holiday destination.

A few years ago, we celebrated our 20th anniversary at award-winning Bocca di Lupo restaurant in London. Since 2020, like many restaurants, this Italian staple of Soho has found creative ways to adapt to the challenges brought on by the pandemic. They launched the Bocca di Lupo supper club, offering a range of meal kits to rustle up delicious dishes at home.

We also love Bocca di Lupo’s BOCCA Cookbook, written by the restaurant’s owner Jacob Kenedy. He takes you on a gastronomic tour from the hearty risotto of north Italy, to the earthy sausages of Bologna, to the Arab-influenced sweets of Sicily.

Kenedy writes: ‘I think there is something particularly alluring about Italian food – don’t you? It has special qualities that permeate not only every dish worth eating there, but every aspect of the culture. In Italy, my spirits lift. The architecture seems to enhance nature in the countryside, and to exalt mankind in the cities. Human beauty shines in paintings and sculptures, in the smiles people give to children, in the directness with which they talk, in the food they prepare and eat with such passion and understanding. I am freed from any sense of the guilt or malaise that seem so common in the modern age. It is this freedom, this happiness, which makes Italian food so uniquely delicious and nourishing.’
