Coronavirus and Travel to Italy: An Update from Villa Pia
Warm greetings from Villa Pia!
A big thank you for all the calls, messages and thoughtful emails we’ve received from our guests and beloved community recently. We would like to assure you that everyone at the villa is fine and as yet there have been no cases of coronavirus in Lippiano. Our staff are in peak health and looking forward to welcoming visitors once the season gets back in swing.
Coronavirus and Travel to Italy Update
Following last night’s statement from the Italian prime minister extending emergency measures nationwide, we wanted to update you on our travel policy and offer guidance for anyone concerned about bookings. The government guidelines have restricted all but essential travel to and from Italy, as well as public gatherings and movement around the country. We are keeping up to date with all government recommendations and we hope to have more information within the next 7 to 10 days.
Bookings and Cancellations
All Villa Pia bookings are subject to a 40% non-refundable deposit and typically, we require full payment of the balance up to 8 weeks prior to your visit. However, in light of the situation, we are willing to offer some flexibility according to personal circumstances. For example, if you are thinking of rescheduling your booking to a later date (we still have some good availability in June and between September to November), then we are happy to transfer your booking (subject to availability) at no additional cost. If you would like to discuss an upcoming trip, please do feel free to contact us via our Bookings page.
Our thoughts go out to anybody currently afflicted with the virus and we wish all a speedy recovery. We were pleased to hear that the 38-year-old man who was Italy’s first coronavirus case has been moved out of intensive care. It was also encouraging to hear that the youngest coronavirus patient, a newborn baby in Wuhan Children’s Hospital, recovered in just 17 days without any need for medication. So far, there have been few child cases globally which is good news for concerned parents.
