House of Peroni on Brick Lane
Guest author Uju Asika blogs at Babes about Town where she shares the coolest activities for families in London and beyond. Here she shares a hot tip for having an Italian experience in the Big Smoke.
If you’re a Londoner dreaming of an escape to Italy this summer, here’s a lovely way to make like an Italian right in your home town.
After a number of successful events at hip city locations, House of Peroni has launched a month-long residency at Brick Lane. This sounds like a fantastic opportunity to indulge in Italian food, film, fashion and culture in the heart of east London.
You can experience immersive installations by artist Rebecca Louise Law, created to evoke the sights and scents of a gorgeous Italian summer landscape. Step into the pop-up piazza to discover a sumptuous menu of events and attractions: from screenings of classic movies like To Rome with Love and I’m Not Scared, to the Sicilian-inspired street food market open every Friday from 5pm (free entry).
Dip your spoon into the new ‘it’ dessert granita, explore the cultural history of coffee, or book into a cocktails masterclass with award-winning Italian molecular mixologist, Simone Caporale.
The undoubted highlights of the residency are the multi-sensory private dining events with Michelin-starred Accursio Craparo (from £65), that promise to transport diners through the daily rhythm of a piazza using sounds, tastes and aromas. And there’s a free Peroni Nastro Azzurro for all guests. Salute!
House of Peroni on Brick Lane runs until June 10 at The Boiler Room, 152 Brick Lane, London, E1 6RU. 5pm-12 midnight (Tuesday to Friday) and 12 noon to 12 midnight (Saturday and Sunday). Visit thehouseofperoni.com/events for the full list of events.
