Our Dream Wedding in Tuscany and Umbria: Rose and James
A wedding in Tuscany and Umbria is something that many couples dream about, and at Villa Pia we’re fortunate to be able to make this dream come true. In October, we celebrated the truly magical wedding of Rose and James, as featured in our photo blog last year. Today, Rose is kindly sharing some of the highlights of their special day.

Where are you from?
We live in Waltham Chase, Southampton, UK.
When did you get married?
We got married on October 12, 2018.
How did you hear about Villa Pia?
Morag, the owner of Villa Pia, is an old family friend. James and I were lucky enough to spend a summer working at Villa Pia whilst travelling around Europe and were blown away with it then.
What appealed to you about having a wedding at the villa?
There’s so much which is amazing really, the breathtaking views, hearty Italian food and great wine are a few of the highlights. It really is the dream wedding venue.
Were there any specific challenges to having an Italian wedding?
James and I were adamant we wanted to be legally married in Italy. I have to admit I found the paper work prior to the wedding a little confusing and stressful at times. I just wanted to make sure that I got everything right (which we luckily did in the end)!
Anything that surprised or delighted you?
The staff at Villa Pia completely make the experience. They constantly went above and beyond to make the day special. On the days leading up to the wedding, the whole village of Lippiano came together to help us build the marquee and put up lights. The magnificent cooks at Villa Pia even made our wedding cake, I counted 14 tiers!
What were some of the highlights of the day?
We married in Monte Santa Maria, a small hilltop village with panoramic views of the Italian hills. I’m sure you can imagine how beautiful it was. After the ceremony we walked down to the local bar for an aperitif with our guests. All our wedding nerves had disappeared and we were finally able to relax with a glass of prosecco in the most perfect setting.
How does Villa Pia compare with other holidays you’ve experienced?
It’s so easy! It’s so relaxed and friendly, with absolutely incredible food without the stress of cooking.
Would you recommend a Villa Pia wedding to friends?
Absolutely. We honestly had our perfect day!
